Purpose:

This interface is for modifying model or part mass properties to obtain desired mass, center of mass, and inertia.

Current – Measure the current mass, center of mass, and inertia properties (which serve as starting reference values).

Desired – Assign desired mass properties using one of two methods: (1) add *ELEMENT_MASS to selected nodes or (2) convert *PART to *PART_INERTIA (if necessary) and assign specified properties.

Controls:

  • current panel
  • Current Mass
  • rbs Current – Measure current pass properties
Compute

Automatically fill in mass properties for all active (VISIBLE) entities

  • desired panel
  • Desired Mass
  • rbs Desired – Assign desired mass properties
  • rb *PART_INERTIA
  • Mandatory inputs: Mass, X,Y,Z (of desired mass center), and Ixx-Ixz (inertia properties)

  • Optional inputs: none

  • cbc Included – Activate if mass and inertia for the selected part are included in the Current properties

  • rbs *ELEMENT_MASS
  • Mandatory inputs: Mass

  • Optional inputs: PID (part ID for mass elements), X,Y,Z (of desired mass center), and Tol. (acceptable deviation)
