Purpose:

This interface provides a variety of methods for generating beam, shell, and solid elements.

Controls:

  • Element ID: Enter new element starting ID

 Use default new element ID

  • Part ID: Enter part ID for newly generated elements
  • cbc Pick PID – Pick part ID from graphics
newpid

 Use default new part ID

  • rbs Beam – Generate beam elements
  • Beam By: Edge or Curve
  • cbc Third Node – Set third node on/off

Direction

 Call Direction Dialog

X

 Enter X coordinate of third node

Y

 Enter Y coordinate of third node

Z

 Enter Z coordinate of third node

  • rb Convert – Create beam just by curve without any change
  • rb Size – Curve mesh by element size
  • rb Number – Curve mesh by number of elements

  • Value: Enter size or number of elements (if zero segment by points)
  • Beam By: Node_Drag or Node_Spin
  • cbc Third Node – Set third node on/off

  • Thickness: Set total thickness or angle for generation
  • Segment: Set number of segments for generation

Position

 Call Position Dialog for first point

  • X: Set X of first point
  • Y: Set Y of first point
  • Z: Set Z of first point

Direction

 Call Direction Dialog

X

 Set direction 1,0,0 (click 2nd time to reverse)

Y

 Set direction 0,1,0 (click 2nd time to reverse)

Z

 Set direction 0,0,1 (click 2nd time to reverse)

  • rb Shell – Generate shell elements
  • Shell By: Solid_Surface or Solid_Face
  • No additional controls.
  • Shell By: Edge_Drag, Edge_Spin, Curve_Drag, or Curve_Spin
  • Thickness/Angle: Set total thickness or angle for generation
  • Segment: Set number of segments for generation

Position

 Call Position Dialog for first point

  • X: Set X of first point
  • Y: Set Y of first point
  • Z: Set Z of first point

Direction

 Call Direction Dialog

X

 Set direction 1,0,0 (click 2nd time to reverse)

Y

 Set direction 0,1,0 (click 2nd time to reverse)

Z

 Set direction 0,0,1 (click 2nd time to reverse)

  • Shell By: Segment_Set
SSegID

 Popup segment set ID list (or enter manually in text field)

  • rb Solid – Generate solid elements
  • Solid By: Ten_Node or Hex_Tetra
  • cbc NewElemnt – Create new ten nodes element
  • Solid By: Shell_Drag, Shell_Offset, or Shell_Spin
  • Thickness/Angle: Set total thickness or angle for generation
  • Segment: Set number of segments for generation

 Call Position Dialog for first point

  • X: Set X of first point
  • Y: Set Y of first point
  • Z: Set Z of first point

Direction

 Call Direction Dialog

 Set direction 1,0,0 (click 2nd time to reverse)

Y

 Set direction 0,1,0 (click 2nd time to reverse)

Z

 Set direction 0,0,1 (click 2nd time to reverse)

  • Solid By: Shell_Thickness
  • rb Average – Set thickness for average
  • rb Max – Set thickness for max
  • rb Min – Set thickness for min

  • cbc DeleteShell – Delete shell after create solid
  • Solid By: 2 Shell Sets
  • cbc Set 1 – Select shell elements for set 1
  • cb N1 – Pick or enter reference node 1 on set 1
  • cb N2 – Pick or enter reference node 2 on set 1

  • cbc Set 2 – Select shell elements for set 2
  • cb N1 – Pick or enter reference node 1 on set 2
  • cb N2 – Pick or enter reference node 2 on set 2

  • Bias: Set bias value at shell set 1
  • Segment: Set number of segments for generation

Create

 Create element

Reject

 Reject last generated element

Accept

 Accept all new generated elements

Done

 Exit from element generate interface
