Material Characterization for Metals, Polymers, & Foams

Syllabus

This in­tro­duc­to­ry class is de­signed for at­ten­dees who would like to gain deep in­sight in­to the process of ma­te­r­i­al char­ac­ter­i­za­tion in LS-DY­NA^®. The class pro­vides a brief overview of all avail­able ma­te­ri­als mod­els avail­able in LS-DY­NA, fol­lowed by fa­mil­iar­iz­ing at­ten­dees with sev­er­al tests to cap­ture key me­chan­i­cal prop­er­ties.

A sig­nif­i­cant por­tion of the class will walk through these steps:

• Un­der­stand­ing the ma­te­r­i­al
• Defin­ing min­i­mum and rec­om­mend­ed tests to per­form
• Re­view­ing the process of da­ta-cleans­ing and con­ver­sion of the test da­ta to an LS-DY­NA ma­te­r­i­al mod­el
• Ver­i­fy­ing the ma­te­r­i­al prop­er­ties
